Grows as neat rosettes of long, deeply cut, glossy green and slightly fleshy leaves. In early spring, these start to produce flowers, brilliant yellow and nestled into the dark foliage. A lovely alpine for a trough or similar selected spot and looks especially good if protected over winter (such as in an alpine house, cold conservatory or porch) where it will flower in March.
This hails from coastal areas of Sardinia and Corsica where it grows in sand, so try to give it similar conditions. Hardy, but dislikes excessive winter wet.
