Azorella trifurcata

A curious plant from the Andes mountains of S. America, this grows as dense, spreading mats of dark green, jagged leaves in tight rosettes all crammed together to form hard mats.

It has tiny yellow flowers which look lovely against the dark green foliage for much of the summer. About 4 or 5cm high at most, (2") but can spread widely over time to mould itself over rocks etc. An excellent choice for covering an otherwise unattractive area of paving. Very hardy.
