A very special plant - the deeply veined purple flower colour is outstanding. In late spring, soon after the grey, shamrock-like foliage emerges in spring from an underground 'bulb', the flowers appear and unfurl in the sunshine to reveal their glory. Only 5cm (2") high.
For such a special plant it's not difficult to grow but it really deserves the best place and conditions you can give it. It likes sunshine and a gritty but moisture-retentive soil that doesn't dry out in summer. Such conditions can be created in a stone trough or other container and then placed where you can look at the results - as you will; again and again.
