An unusual and uncommon variety, this is the 'brown' leaved houseleek. At some stages of growth it can indeed look brown - a pale, milk chocolate colour with a hint of pink. At other times it can much pinker as pictured here, but if you look closely at the leaf tips you can see the brown developing.
The leaves are broad and smooth and the offsets are produced on thick, pink-stemmed stalks. It makes good mounds and survives in wetter areas where the hairier leaved ones might not.
